I got to spend the day out looking for petroglyphs. We'll be having a rock art recording weekend and I think that we have some interesting areas to look for unknown glyphs. But one of my friends doubted that I stop for hot tea on cold mornings. So here is a shot of the kettle boiling at the top of a cliff above the Rio Puerco.
Lovely. Fool for doubting.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful little stove. It is the prefect tool for making tea in the field.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of stove is it?
ReplyDeleteIt is a Svea 123, made in Sweden. It is probably the first backpacking stove ever built and introduced in 1955. Mine is probably only about 20 years old, but the design has been pretty much unchanged since it was introduced.
DeleteWhy mess with a good design? Does it have a cool Swedish Ikea name? Svea 123 is the model or brand right? What is Swedish for stove?
ReplyDeleteIt has only one name-- a Svea 123. It is made by Sievert. My stove is the earlier model with a single moving part, the control valve. The later models (Svea 123r) have two moving parts, the vavle and the self cleaner. Mine is cleaned with a special tool with a tiny wire on in.
ReplyDeleteI think a close up of the stove and "special tool" are required.
